This series is continuing to improve. Jack Johns makes a brief but impactful appearance in this book at the beginning. That sends Evan on a trajectory he didn’t expect. First, he has to finish out the latest mission from Jack and that leads him to my new favorite character in this series – Joey. She’s kind of like Evan – no family, trained in the program, rescued & trained further by Jack. Their relationship starts off rocky but grows over the course of the book. Evan has another self-appointed mission and that involves taking out Van Sciver, his childhood nemesis. Van Sciver thinks he has more than enough resources to handle Evan, but of course, he is wrong. He’s even called in Candy, and she has her own personal score to settle with Evan. This book has a a well-blended mix of action and personal growth. Joey has her own baggage and has recently been through hell, and Evan has some long-buried baggage that recent events has stirred up. He’s also got some dangling emotions concerning Mia and her son, the downstairs neighbors. Meanwhile, Joey and Evan are handing out justice left and right to the stupid and deserving. I also like that we got to know Tommy (Evan’s sometimes fixer) a bit more. With Joey in the mix, we finally have a well-rounded female character, one who is something more than yet another sexualized woman. Yay! The author has shown us he can write ladies as real people. Speaking of the ladies, Candy is back in the show. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that she may be something more than a well-toned backside in yoga pants with a penchant for killing people with candy. There were a few moments where I thought Evan made a mistake just to move the plot along or add drama. Of course that character has a tracker. And an air bubble? Still, there’s plenty of tense moments mixed in with humor. Can you imagine Evan being invited to scrapbooking? Haha! This is my favorite book in the series so far. 4/5 stars. The Narration: Once again, Scott Brick is a joy to listen for this series. I love his in-control voice for Evan and especially love it those few times Evan loses control. The ladies could use more femininity but each is distinct. Joey doesn’t really sound like a 16-year-old girl in voice but Brick captures her teen attitudes perfectly. There’s no tech issues with this recording. 4.5/5 stars.

Loved it. Love the series!

The narrator was excellent. He was clear, and easy to listen to. This book is the 3rd instalment of the Orphan X series. It doesn’t say that in the title, though I saw on Goodreads that you can read this as a stand-alone book. I got really confused on some parts of the book, especially when they would talk about the Ten Commandment. At times I was like what? Perhaps reading the first two books would help you get a better picture before attempting this one.

Love the connection between Joey & Evan. Good plot. Good narrator.

A fantastic read. Agent X’s story read by Scott Brick is a great combination. I can’t wIt to listen to the next Agent X book.

This book had me hook,line & sinker from the first chapter!! Terrific Read! The narration was awesome and the characters in this book were like none other.

Great story. Holds you all the way through. Orphan X shows you parts of himself that you would not expect. Ending leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for the next book.
