Who were your heroes growing up? Perhaps they wore a cape and saved the day, or maybe they stood out for their skill and strength. No matter our age, we admire those who reflect the qualities that we want to see in ourselves. But the Christian life calls us to look higher.

God has given His people a great cloud of witnesses—men and women throughout the Bible and church history who lived with steadfast faith and bold conviction. Their lives point not to their own greatness but to the greatness of the God they served.

In Heroes of the Christian Faith, Dr. R.C. Sproul introduces us to imperfect yet faithful servants of the Lord who stood firm in the truth, even when the cost was high. Their stories remind us that courage, perseverance, and obedience are not traits reserved for the extraordinary—they’re marks of all who follow Christ, our true and perfect Hero.
