Unabridged Audiobook
It was a good book, a good story line, and it was an easy listen.
This book was heavy and hard to read. I think one of the reasons I finished it in two days is because I wanted to stop feeling so sad for where the story was going. The first line of the books tells the reader how bad things are going to get. “When I wake up, all my friends are dead.” I had this on my TBR since it came out and wasn’t sure I would be able to read it; I thought it might just be too hard, but in a time when opiates seems to be commonplace, it is important to understand how the addiction can not only ruin your life, but kill as well, and kill fast. I like Mickey and felt for her as she fell lower and lower. I also liked her friends, and the reality that Mickey chose heroine over them and the creeping addiction that dug its claws in and took hold. This is an important book to read, but also be cautious of those that may have trigger issues because Mindy McGinnis, like in all her books, will bring you right into the grittiest, most difficult places, and leave you there to feel it all thoroughly.
