Summary
Heralded by New York magazine as one of the city's most popular diets, macrobiotics has become the latest trend in dieting, thanks to high-profile supporters like Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Speaking to the generation of young women looking to extend their healthy lifestyles beyond yoga and Pilates, macrobiotic chef and instructor Jessica Porter offers fresh, contemporary, and accessible insight into one of the world's oldest, yet most popular, diets. She explains that by eating good quality whole foods, any woman can experience physical, sensory, emotional, and intellectual freedom.

The effects of eating a macrobiotic diet can extend beyond basic health to weight loss, beauty, better sex, and peace of mind. Cooking tips and recipes are combined with Jessica's no-nonsense philosophy and witty anecdotes to create a lifestyle book that will inspire women to hit the kitchen with an understanding of how to strengthen their minds and bodies through food.

Listening to audiobooks about health, nutrition, wellness etc. is my thing. The readers voice is slightly annoying. This book is utterly annoying and more about the authors personal introduction and the assimilation of a healthy lifestyle more so than about Macrobiotics. I'm a vegan looking into becoming an alkalarian and this book should have appealed to me however it didn't. I would recommend listening to Ph Miracle over this

I really likes this book. The author makes a complicated subject approachable, laid back and even entertaining. I will be looking into this way of eating thanks to the introduction found here. I suggest it for anyone with a crappy diet looking for radical change or decent one looking for improvement. I really love this lady too! New role model!

I like to eat healthy, and i like to hear other people's points of view, and even fanatics for a while (a very short while). But this book was like listening to an over dramatic lady rant about her opinion, and why she personally feels better eating the way she does. I suffered through a couple discs hoping for better to come, then started skipping tracks... but I always try to get to the end somehow... I can't even remember if I did on this one... it was just more after more after more of the same. I'd much rather listen to my Grandfather discuss (for hours) how much he loves the way that Gold Toe socks fit his feet, especially "since they come in numbered sizes, other than S,M,L!"
