If you like opera, as I do, and if you are curious about background details, as I was, then you will enjoy this short book on the history of opera, as I did. The recorded book has the benefit of wonderful excerpts used to illustrate and punctuate the author's narrative. I found it interesting and entertaining from beginning to end.

This is very good, but it is such a brief history that it gave me just a taste of composers I already like and left me wanting more of ones I am not familiar with. Well worth a listen if you enjoy opera.
