The Hound of the Baskervilles

Unabridged Audiobook

Written By: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Narrated By: Laurie Anne Walden

Publisher: LibriVox

Date: January 2011

Duration: 5 hours 54 minutes

What really killed Sir Charles Baskerville? Is his nephew, Sir Henry, in danger from the legendary family curse, a gigantic black hound? Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are on the case in this classic mystery, set on lonely Dartmoor in Devonshire. Neolithic ruins, a perilous quagmire, eerie sounds in the night, and (of course) fog all add to the fun, with an escaped convict thrown in for good measure. (Summary by Laurie Anne Walden)

I think I hated this book. This was my first Dean Koontz book. From the flowery dialogue to the vague reasoning behind the issues at hand. The ending left me hanging. If this had been a paper book I would have read the last chapter to see if the book had a plausible outcome. As it is I listened to the whole miserable book and was left hanging. No more Koontz for me.

This was such a slow-moving story, something I'm sure is due to the fact the narrator sounds like a 6 year old that can only read one word at a time. Unlike most audiobooks, I was unable to get emerged in this book because the voice is too jarring. The book itself was probably, therefore, not shown in a true light.
