Unabridged Audiobook
One of my favorite old time authors. Once I got used to Carolyn’s accent and rhythm of speech, I could enjoy the story better. Thirteen hours is a long time to read out loud. So thanks to her and all the nice people who volunteer to read the books for us. And to all who put the whole thing together!
Story is hard to follow because narrator is a female and the story is told from the perspective of a male.
Interesting, long and in-depth story that, nonetheless, feels unsatisfying and abrupt in its ending. For all of its many hours, trial scenes, and complex human emotions it leaves the reader quite flat at the end.
So short but I enjoyed the brief suspense and I didn't predict the ending I thought it was quite clever. But some of her other books are better.
The story line was ok, I had to put this on the back burner for a while. The narrator sounded too monotone. I don't like to leave a book halfway so I eventually resumed the book. The narrator grew on me. Her accent I got used to. She had a nice voice. All in all the book was good.
I enjoyed this old time mystery. It's fun to listen to stories written many years ago.
