The authors' original book was excellent at teaching parents to communicate with kids in ways that strengthened both parental authority AND the parent-child relationship. This book applies those skills to the challenging task of communicating with teens. The authors walk us through their class for parents of teens, and we listen in on what they taught, complete with illustrations and examples. Then we get to hear how parents in the group applied these strategies to real-life problems with their teenagers. The book offers wise advice in an extremely practical form. In addition to recommendations on what how to handle various situations, we HEAR how effective dialogues with teens would sound as the parenting group's participants "practice" their skills.
