Unabridged Audiobook
I was never vested in the heroine in this story, in fact most of the time I was irritated and and tired of her. This made it difficult to care about the quest she was on. The road the journey was a tangled mess although it strived to pull the threads together at the end. I would have given it a rating of a 2 if the premise had not been as good and the narrator not been so talented.
Narrated well. Storyline held my interest but was a very strange writing style. I didn’t regally ‘get’ the book I wouldn’t listen to this again.
I've never actually disliked a main character, until this book. I felt like the story line was missing the driving force. I had to force myself to finish it.
It was a little hard to get into at first and very different read from what I normally listen to. but once you get into it, it will keep you captivated. doesn't end the way you think it will.
I loved the Southern Reach (Annihilation) Trilogy but this just wasn’t that. The story was VERY long and drawn out for what the ending was… I’d say 2.5. There were some interesting and well described parts though, maybe it’s just that I couldn’t really find it in me to support or connect with Jane/Jill. Narrator was ok, there was enough of a change between characters.
different but enjoyable
Great book, delivered in every way.
Really not sure what motivated the narrator to commit so heavily to her pursuit. So much introspection it made differentiating thoughts and actions difficult. The ending felt predictable, overall just not my taste. Loved the Southern Reach/Area X trilogy but this was disappointing.
