Summary
The extraordinary child-adult Prince Myshkin, confined for several years in a Swiss sanatorium suffering from severe epilepsy, returns to Russia to claim his inheritance and to find a place in healthy human society. The teeming St Petersburg community he enters is far from receptive to an innocent like himself, despite some early successes and relentless pursuit by grotesque fortune-hunters. His naive gaucheries give rise to extreme reactions among his new acquaintance, ranging from anguished protectiveness to mockery and contempt. But even before reaching the city, during the memorable train journey that opens the novel, he has encountered the demonic Rogozhin, the son of a wealthy merchant who is in thrall to the equally doomed Natasha Filippovna: beautiful, capricious and destructively neurotic, she joins with the two weirdly contrasted men in a spiralling dance of death... Narrator was difficult to listen to. Annoying in fact. Story dragged on with no meaning.

This audiobook is incomplete, it only covers part 1 and 2. I can’t find the next part(s) on the app. So, after spending 15 hours on the book. I need to decide if it’s worth buying another edition with a different narrator. Or, just googling the summary of the final act.

I liked the narration. I have the book as a paperback, but never got round to reading it, so it's good to have an audiobook version.

The story is very good, though I don’t think his best. The narrator was very excellent! I loved hearing one narrator all the way through a longer story.

What a good reader! Especially excellent by Librivox standards. I found the book unable to keep me intrigued, however. Wordy, rambling, excessively long with no point or end in sight. I shan't be going on with more 'parts'.

Published in 1869, the Socialist movement in pre-communist Russia is eerily similar today in America. Fascinating story. Thanks Audiobooks!
