To be home for Christmas, they must bridge the distance between them.

Charlie Yates is desperate. It's almost Christmas and his flight home from college has been delayed. For days. Charlie promised his little sister Ava he'd be home for her first holiday season since going into remission from leukemia. Now he's stuck on the opposite coast and someone else grabbed the last rental car. Someone he hasn't even spoken to in four years.

Someone who broke his heart.

Gavin Bloomberg's childhood friendship with Charlie ended overnight after a day of stolen kisses. With years of resentment between them, they don't want to be in the same room together, let alone a car. But for Ava's sake, Gavin agrees to share the rental and drive across the country together.

As they face unexpected bumps along the road, can Charlie and Gavin pave the way to a future together?

Contains mature themes.

Lovely Christmas Story (an audio review) I’m a sucker for a good Christmas story, especially as we near the jolly season. Since I’ve loved every Keira Andrews Christmas audio I’ve ever listened to, I was glad to snap this one up and give it a listen. I’ll start with Greg Boudreaux’s narration. Greg always delivers a stellar performance, and this book was no exception. He differentiated Charlie from Gavin and his delivery of young Ava was precious. As for the story. Friends to enemies to lovers is a great trope. Charlie and Gavin, when they first met, were best of friends. Then things went terribly wrong and after one particularly horrendous event, they couldn’t stand to be in each other’s company. But when they’re stranded in San Fransico with no planes heading back east, and only one rental car to be found, they agree to be silent companions for the ride. Eventually, though, that silence is broken and they have to each say their piece. Then something interesting happens…they go back to their former friendship. Heck, they even start to move past that. But things are complicated and Gavin has some family stuff to deal with. At the same time, Charlie’s dealing with his protective feelings of his sister – the one who’s recovered but everyone still treats like she’s fragile. I have to say, I really loved Ava. Anyway, I knew I’d get my happy ending, but the ending just had that extra little something that made it special. A great listen!
