Summary
The drama, hilarity and tears of sisterhood are at the heart of the thoroughly captivating new novel by New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins-a funny, frank and bittersweet look at marriage, forgiveness and moving on Letting go of her ex-husband is harder than wedding-dress designer Jenny Tate expected.especially since his new wife wants to be Jenny's new best friend. Sensing this isn't exactly helping her achieve closure, Jenny trades the Manhattan skyline for her hometown up the Hudson, where she'll start her own business and bask in her sister Rachel's picture-perfect family life.and maybe even find a little romance of her own with Leo, her downstairs neighbor, a guy who's utterly irresistible and annoyingly distant at the same time. Rachel's idyllic marriage, however, is imploding after she discovers her husband sexting with a colleague. She always thought she'd walk away in this situation, but her triplet daughters have her reconsidering her stance on adultery, much to Jenny's surprise. Rachel points to their parents' perfect marriage as a shining example of patience and forgiveness; but to protect her sister, Jenny may have to tarnish that memory-and their relationship--and reveal a family secret she's been keeping since childhood. Both Rachel and Jenny will have to come to terms with the past and the present and find a way to get what they want most of all.

Great storytelling! The amount of details that this author has put into each character and their inner workings was just enough to really feel what they were feeling. The narrator that voiced Jenny was phenomenal! Some other reviewers mentioned the narrator was like listening to a robot. They're referring to the voice of Rachel, Jenny's sister. I thought her depiction of Rachel was spot on for that character, slightly mechanical in a sense. once I got toward the end of the novel, the narrator seemed to "grow" with the character as Rachel evolved. If you're looking for a novel that is funny, heartwarming, scandalous, dramatic, and yes- heartbreaking - this is your book!

I really enjoy Kristen Higgins style of writing. In fact I’ve read &/or listened to almost everything she’s written. Xe Sands is an INCREDIBLE narrator! However, I found this book to be extremely depressing and the narrator that read the voice of Rachel was awful!! The sultry, sex kitten yet robotic-monotonous toned voice was very very hard to listen to. Her inflection just seemed all wrong for the character. I finished it bc I’m no quieter

I love the author’s books but this one was a little off for me. The characters constant internal rehashing was getting old but I enjoyed the storyline and it was very relatable to my life. Always a fan of Xe Sands.

Storyline was good and deals wells with relationship issues. However, the switch between the 2 main character was distracting the way it was written. the narrators do a good job with expressing the characters emotions.

Started off like really trashy Mills & Boon type but did improve further in. Not great though and very predictable. I won’t be looking at any more from this author.

I kept listening but was getting angry at so many brutal, cruel and just jerky characters! The two sisters seemed normal enough but had rotten husbands, other men were just narcissistic and mysonigist and Rachel's so called girlfriends acted like those eighth grade nasty popular girls - putting everyone down. And their mother is such a piece of work. I could not understand why they kept her in their lives at all - toxic woman! I really did not understand Jenny's attraction to her smug super either. I kept yelling at her - "no!". I don't think she listened to me. Anyway, I kind of felt sorry for the writer if this is how she sees the world. Jenny's narration was my favourite of the two.

I enjoyed the story. The characters were relatable. Some of the narration was weird - ie the kid’s voices.

The plot was interesting. But the characters' internal dialogues were prone to rehash the same thing over and over. And the breathy, flat, drawn out style of narration was irritating and didn't seem to fit the tone of the book.

Great story. Horrible narration. Whiny, breathy and sounded depressed all the time. What’s super annoying is these are the same 2 narrators for many of Kristan Higgin’s books. So on top of it being annoying you have to then hear the same voices over and over for different characters in different books it makes it hard to listen seems like somebody should’ve thought of that before having the same exact narrators in several books. So in this book her name is Jenny but same voice is other characters in other books.

Loved the story! Only problem with audiobooks is when the narrator who is speaking as one of the characters says “and she says” before she reads the next line. If you know the character already it takes away from it sounding like it’s in first person.

The story itself is nice. The characters are distinct. But to be honest... seriously. I was so convinced, it had to be a man who wrote this book. The women are so needy and dependent on the men in the story, that it was close to be ridiculous. Sorry!

This book really made the reader think. Do you actually need to know everything? How does perception vs reality impact your outlook in life? The characters were well written and each had his/her own course, yet were intertwined. I really enjoyed it.
