Unabridged Audiobook
In Prey We Trust continues the Apex Academy Capers series with higher stakes, darker tension, and even more secrets lurking beneath the surface of the academy. Returning to Apex for year two should feel like a fresh start, but it quickly becomes clear that whatever is happening at the academy is far from over. The atmosphere throughout this installment carries a constant sense of unease. There’s danger in the shadows, unanswered questions from the previous book, and the growing feeling that something bigger is unfolding behind the scenes. One of the things I really enjoy about this series is the way the relationships continue to evolve. The friendships, alliances, and protective dynamics around the main character add emotional weight to the story and make the dangerous situation she’s in feel even more intense. There’s a strong sense that everyone is trying to piece together a mystery that’s far larger than any of them expected. Because this is book three in an ongoing series, the story continues to build on earlier developments while introducing new twists and complications. The pacing keeps the tension moving, and the unanswered questions make it easy to want to jump straight into the next installment. The audiobook narration once again does a great job bringing the story to life. Kayden Lukakis and Michelle Price work well together, giving the characters distinct voices and energy that helps carry the suspense and emotion throughout the story. Their performances make it easy to stay immersed in the world of Apex Academy. If you’ve been following the series, this installment raises the stakes and deepens the mystery surrounding the academy and its hidden dangers. As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what I like you may not. Happy Listening!
No book 4 on audio, yet. What does grandpa have in stall for Dolly and her fated mates, I can’t wait for the next audio book, pretty please be soon
The narrators are both really engaging and although its a long book, it was really easy to get swept up in their performances. The same things I enjoyed about the previous book are still here; Aubrey's snack related nicknames, Lucille being a moustache twirling villain and Fitz being an absolute menace. Felix should be my guy on paper but Fitz has stolen my heart. His reaction to stumbling onto a certain secret was hilarious and I just love his unmatched energy. Dolly is well on her way to becoming a force to be reckoned with and I love how she has had to actually work for it through training and it really comes across that she has earned her place. She has come so far from the Delores of book one. Ruru and Coco have made it onto my safe list after being a little sus in book one and I am here for it. There are some new players on the board though and I am ready for some revelations in the next book - looking at you Remy! My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
This book picks up where Let Us Prey finished. Dolly has had a fairly boring summer. But that all changers with a new term and a new school. Dolly and her men are all happy to be together again but they have mysteries to solve and the more answers they get, the more questions they have. I love this series. The narration is excellent.
