In the kingdom of Kaloma, every woman must marry by twenty‑six. It’s the law. For Auri Fareview and her sisters, it’s a prison sentence. With no dowries and no prospects, their futures look bleak and hopeless. It’s just a matter of time.

Until Auri finds a golden key hidden deep within the Whitling Woods.

The treasure, however, is enchanted, and the moment she touches it, she’s whisked into the labyrinth of Nixus Uraiahs, a god bound by a curse. Auri is offered three wishes, but each requires a price paid to keep it. In the magic, twisted words have the power to break her, but magic isn’t the only danger. Nothing is as dangerous as the powerful, enigmatic, and unpredictable Nixus, who will always play her villain.

Nixus has watched six key‑keepers fail to free him, and he’s certain the seventh will be no different. Except Auri’s practicality, her quiet strength, her curiosity, and the way she meets his darkness without flinching begin to unravel the fortress he’s erected to keep himself safe and sane. But the longer she remains in the spell, the more dangerous his attraction to her becomes. The spell knows exactly how to hurt both of them and with every moment spent with her, the line between captor and companion blurs.
As the threads of the curse tighten around them, Auri must decide what she’s willing to risk to make her wishes? And if she gets them wrong, it might not just be her and Nixus in peril, but the world beyond the spell as well.

In the Shadow of a Wish launches a romantasy series of reimagined fairytales following the Fareview sisters—four women bound by magic, love, and the dangerous bargains that will rewrite their fates.
