Unabridged Audiobook
The Italian descriptions were authentic - I have lived in Italy for 35 years and can vouch for that, but I was constantly irritated by the narrators' pronunciation mistakes. If you know you are going to be reading foreign words, can't you find out their pronunciation first?? The story was quite compelling, although rather implausible (why should a woman give up everything for a person she barely knows who treats her so horridly?) but things were left hanging at the end that I think should have been cleared up. I'm giving the narrator only 3 for the pronunciation mistakes which I find unjustifiable.
Took a long time to tell the story to just quickly wrap it up in 2 chapters.
I think the narrator is a good voice actor but her voice felt mismatched to the main character description she sounded older than I think the main character was. I didn't like any of the people. I didn't like the lead character Danielle, she was getting on my nerves. I couldn't stand her boyfriend Matt. and I disliked all the people in The Hitchhiker novel. As far as the story arc goes, the end felt anti climactic, not very surprising. the one thing that really worked well for me was the pandemic being part of this book and the reminders of what it used to be like - that was very well captured. and the author is also good at the descriptions of Tuscany.
The end was left hanging & just seemed abrupt, like the author ran out of time or will to finish it. Disappointing.
Not very good I read it but didn’t enjoy it
I really enjoyed this book. Hat off to the author
Her descriptions of the events of the time and of Italy were spot on! However the mystery, while an interesting theme ,was predictable.
I really struggled to get into this one - had to stop. I don’t know if it was perhaps the narrator?
I liked it
