This will not appeal to many people, BUT, I found it both enlighten and informative. Set in 1881ish, the instructions for lighthouse and lightships, in deatil, instructs how to mix paint from ingredients rather than open a can of premixed paint. How to coat surfaces for different sI tuitions (ice, rust, friction, safety). Rules of routine and non routing maintenance and repair, weather policies, shutdown and startup of light, etc, etc. Loved it, like a step into the past.
