Summary
“A crackling addition to [the] Prey series” (Entertainment Weekly) from #1 New York Times bestselling author John Sandford.

In a wealthy Minneapolis neighborhood, two elderly women are bludgeoned to death. They are apparent victims of a random robbery, though nothing of value appears to have been stolen. But when Lucas Davenport looks deeper, he fears that the victims weren’t so random, and the items stolen were far from invaluable.

As a pattern emerges it leads Lucas to…certainly not where he expected. Which is too bad, because the killers are expecting him. And that’s only the first surprise…

I read every John Sanford book with anticipation like a child on Christmas morning. I feel as though I know Lucas Davenport. He and Jack Reacher are close personal friends of mine. I wait with glee for every book. I have read this book and listened to it on my phone. It is a good one. I still think Rules of Prey is the best. It is the first in the prey series I've read them all. I recommend them highly. Let Lucas into your life. You'll dream about him. Paelex

This book was so descriptive of every little detail that you actually lost the impact of the story. I kept on fast forwarding when we started to get to : as I came up the dirt and pebble drivewayā€¯I could fast forward twice before he got to the door. I sent it back after 4 CD's, couldn't take it anymore!

Classic Lucas Davenport story: one of the best, actually. Intelligent logic and dialog, with believable events and characters. Sandford is one of the two best writers in this genre (Connelly being the other) and Ferrone's voice and reading style is the perfect combination. Interesting and satisfying to the very last sentence.

Predictable but a good read. I enjoyed the ending.

This was another interesting book. It was pretty fast paced and well read. It was almost over too soon.

All of Sandford's Prey books are great. I have read everyone of them until this one, which I listened to. It riveting, interesting, and hard to put down. All of the Lucas Davenport books are that good in my opinion. You get an idea of who did what about halfway through the book, but the opening is the best since it drops you strait into the gore in the first 2-3 pages. Highly recommended (unabridged).

Sandford is one of my favorite. I've read all the Prey series of books & have enjoyed every one of them. I really enjoy these books, because there are times I'm laughing & other times I'm caught up in the action I can't turn it off. I would highly recommend this book.

Not a bad book, but the abridged version would have been a better bet.
