Summary
Thirteen guests. One killer. No escape.
On an island on the coast of Cornwall, cut off from the mainland by the tides for most of the day, thirteen old friends meet at Tregowan Castle for a weekend of revelry.

By the next evening only twelve are still alive.

Amongst them is a killer – but who? As a storm traps them on the island and past betrayals and grievances are revealed, nerves fray and friendships begin to fracture.

But with no escape and no way of calling for help it’s only a matter of time before the killer strikes again. And when everyone is keeping secrets, anybody could be the next victim…

Perfect for fans of Lucy Foley’s The Guest List and Agatha Christie.

This is a stranded on an island with a murderer mystery. The concept is not new but it can be done really well. For me this slightly misses the mark. I liked that each chapter had a different point of view and that each character is easily distinguishable. I quite liked the style of the writing too. But there were also some things that I found more problematic. Almost all of the characters were a bit clichéd and stereotyped. The plot lacks originality and in places the pace is really slow. None of the people on the island are particularly likeable. They all have secrets that are uncovered and their relationships are stress tested. There were parts at the end of the book that I found very lacking in credibility and I wasn't surprised at the identity of the culprit. 3 stars Overall 4 stars for Performance 2.5 stars for the story

So this was not an listen to start with and found it a bit difficult to get into. About 1/4 of the way in I really started enjoying it and guessing who was responsible. There were lots of twists and turns and such a unique setting it really added to it. The ending was brilliant. The narration is brilliant - love the way the voices change so dramatically from posh to teenage. Tom was just brilliant. The ending and epilogue were brilliant

Different to what I expected. The blurb read as a light tale, it was dark & sneaky & I thoroughly enjoyed it. Narration was good too.

This was an enjoyable listen. A ‘who dunnit’ story that kept me guessing all the way through. The narrator was brilliant and really portrayed each of the characters differently. I like the way the story was told from different characters points of view. I would recommend this story!

I’m on the fence with this book, I found the first half slow and I had trouble paying attention. I was very confused by the constant character switches and I think that may be why I didn’t get attached to or have warm feelings towards any of the characters. I did enjoy the second half when it all started to come together and I liked the ending reveal. There was so much drama it was exciting!

The narration is torture- she stops after every phrase. No flow. No drama. Lots of not very nice characters. Lots of secrets hinted at but not enough to intrigue. Maybe it was supposed to be a black comedy, but if so there weren’t many laughs. Gave up about 20% in. Possibly it got better?
