Unabridged Audiobook
Well, I guess I have a new series to go binge now! “... You know, ‘if you see something, say something.’”“The thing at Wal-Mart, where they tell you to report anything unusual?”“No way do you shop at Wal-Mart.” It was true. She was a Target woman. Plot: 5 Spice: 0.5Overall: 4.25Narration: 4 BLUF: Smart, intriguing, "still relevant today" plot line! Sasha McCandless, JD, is just awesome. Smart, put together, she's well-versed in Krav Maga, Israeli hand-to-hand combat, and she's also swept up by accident into quite the murky mess! I love her slightly prickly, but never purposely mean jabs between friends. Enter Air Marshal Leo Connelly, Federal Air Marshal, who has a helluva impactful meet-cute with our Lady lawyer. Oh, did I mention a she's 5'0", red-head? Who is good at Krav Maga? It goes over about as well as you can imagine! Thankfully, Leo, all deliciously tall dark and handsome bit of him knows there's too much at stake and moves himself into her space. All of them. House office, car court room! With the clock ticking down, these two are quite the pair figuring out who's the culprit (we the reader know! But they don't!) And the supporting characters are quite the cast as well! The narration was done pretty well! Solo voiced instead of dual or duet, Ms Fortin voiced probably nearly a dozen different tones. I would have like just a tiny bit deeper male voices but that's nitpicking! A couple places had some overly long gaps between chapters, but it's very likely that was delay due to reception. (I listened to this via Spotify!) Thank you to Melissa F Miller & Hambright PR for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook! Looking forward to catching up with the rest of the seriesAll opinions are my own.
Irreparable Harm is book#1 in the Sasha McCandless series. Evidently, the book had been published years ago, but this is first time in audio. Action starts right away and it does not let up until the very end. It was a very quick listen, because I could not stop listening. Sasha is a tough, kick-ass lawyer, literally. She is very advanced in krav maga. I really liked Sasha. We meet Leo Connelly, a federal air marshall, who’s first meeting with Sasha doesn’t go well. Both Sasha and Leo are likeable characters. The narrator did an excellent job. While this legal thriller doesn’t break any new ground, the writing and the action were solid enough to convince me to continue reading this series. The only thing it didn’t do is convince me why I should ever fly again! Thank you to Netgalley and OrangeSky audio for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
