They emphasize harmony with nature, often featuring animals, spirits, and supernatural beings interacting with humans. Classic tales like Momotarō (Peach Boy), Tsuru no Ongaeshi (The Grateful Crane), and Kaguya-hime (The Bamboo Cutter’s Daughter) convey moral lessons on honesty, gratitude, and reverence for nature. Influenced by Shinto and Buddhist philosophies, these stories blur the line between humans and animals, reflecting a unique cultural perspective distinct from Western fairy tales.
