Unabridged Audiobook
Love his books! Michael Beck is the perfect narrator for John Grisham's books. Story was somewhat predictable but thoroughly enjoyable.
Absolutely love this novel, and Michael Beck!!
I'm guessing it's because of the abridged version, but this story was dull, never got you involved, and was over before it could even get started. If the abridged is the only one available, just skip it.
I was not very fond of this Grisham book. It was rather boring and predictable.
If you like Grisham you will definitely like this book. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. It is a good quick listen.
Wow! John Grisham is such a wonderful writer. I really enjoyed this story... I also learn about class action lawsuits.
Really, really boring ending... actually most of his books are like that. I am not going to waste me time reading or listening to anymore Grishambooks.
Typical Grisham - you love and hate the main character. Very good listen. The reader is adequate - there were times when all the characters sounded the same. Did not like the ending. This is the second Grisham novel I've listened to recently where the ending did not suit the crimes committed - as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure others will disagree - so is life.
The ending was abrupt, almost like Grisham knew this book was a stinker. It would be a good thing if we cared at all about the characters, but these characters - especially the main one - is not at all worthy. If I wanted an education every time I read a book, I would read only non-fiction. Grisham seems more inclined to preach than write a good story. Maybe he should stick to non-fiction like "The Innocent Man".
Suspenseful, great book for the long commutes. Held my interest - fast moving plot line.
Wow! John Grisham is such a great writer and not only did I really enjoy this story, I learned alot about class action lawsuits! It was really interesting to see how these tort lawyers operate with an almost complete lack of conscience!
OK as a "no brainer", but I look to Grisham for a bit more intrigue. Definitely not one of his best.
I don't know that I have ever read or listened to a Grisham book. However, if this is typical I won't listen to anymore. It would almost get you to the edge of your seat and then leave you hanging. I absolutely hated the ending. At the end I wanted the main character dead or reformed or something. In other words, I didn't like the ending one bit. At the disc ends and your playing through alternative endings in your mind that would have better then it is not a good ending.
usually i enjoy grisham's writing, but i can't believe i listened to this entire book. if i had had anything -- ANYthing -- else to listen to other than the radio with its endless commercials, i would have sent it back after hearing the first few discs. there isn't a single major or mid-level character in this book who has any integrity, character, or redeeming qualities. they are, to a man and woman, egocentric, shallow greedheads who are perfectly willing to rip off anyone and everyone so that they can be richer, richer, richest and get whatever they want. you have to ask: who CARES about them? who wants them to have a happy ending? not i. i suppose it was illuminating to learn how these massive class action suits work, but i could have better spent the hours i wasted listening to this doing almost anything else, including driving to work and back listening to nothing at all.
I always enjoy John Grisham books, but this one left something to be desired - details, juice and character depth. It was the abridged version, but still more story could be conveyed. Enjoyable in the car and passed the time well, but not the top of my list. Sorry John...
I normally do not like John Grisham books but this was really good. Very realistic in the aspect that mass torts does happen in society.
Not the best Grisham book. This one seemed kind of like a money maker more than an addition to some of his better ones. The plot was pretty unimaginative, and the development was pretty predictable. It was still entertaining, but I probably would have chosen a different one if I were to do it again. It really didn't have much of an edge, which some of his better novels do.
I have to say this was one of the best Grisham's that I have listened to. I also found myself staying in the car a little longer to hear the next chapter.
I can't give this an adequate rating beacuse I don't know. The story was moving along FABULOUSLY and then it just came to a sudden ending as if it dropped off a cliff. Not typical Grisham, so I am guess it is the abridgement. If so, the "abridger" ought to be shot. Good narrator, good story, just ended to suddenly!
This was an excellent book. I listen in my car and I was constantly finding excuses to drive places so I can listen to the book again! Kept me on the edge of my seat!
I really enjoyed listening to King of Torts by John Grisham - although I always enjoy Grisham's books! He's such a great writer.
This John Grisham was a true-to-form "page turner" that you don't have to concentrate on SO much that you forget you're driving!
I do not understand some of the quirks in our legal system, and this book addresses some of the excesses in the system. An interesting read.
I was not aware of what a Tort lawyer was until listening to this book. I was educated as well as highly entertained. This is a fast paced story, very credible and gritty. Very interesting and surprising easy to follow. Highly recommended.
This book was trite and predictable. The characters were poorly developed and the writing was, at best, banal. Skip it.
