Unabridged Audiobook
Kingsolver is one of my favorite authors but this is not one of my favorite works by her. The story is intriguing and finally came round to a conclusion in the last chapter, but I thought the whole story was too drawn out and circuitous. I did learn a lot about the history of the US with the government of Truman and Hoover and also about the Bonus riots of 1939. That was a very redeeming part of this book for me, as I love history and knew very little about these topics. It made me go do some research on my own, and that was a good thing. I do feel that several of her other works are much better than this one.
I was disappointed because many parts of the audio, did not match the text. Since english is my second language, I like to listen at the same time I read and in this case I was lost when the audio skipped many paragraphs...
