Unabridged Audiobook
Want to listen to an audiobook of an excellent story told by a marvelous narrator? Then go check this one out!! I loved getting to know Nancy Harkness Love and her fantastic contributions to the world of flying. She was and is such an inspiring person, from her accomplishments as a pilot to her determination to forge the way for women to be active members of the military, especially in times of war. I think one thing that really stands out to me about her is that she wasn’t rude or disrespectful to anyone. Instead, she used grace and respect to get important points across and when words didn’t suffice, she would prove herself through actions. She fought for things that were right and didn’t let failure keep her down. Nancy let her work speak louder for those who didn’t want to listen and never sought the spotlight for what she did. If anything, she wanted others to succeed where she had not, and for everyone to be respected for what they could do. Without Nancy, the WAFS and later, the WASPS would not have been given the opportunity to serve their country in important ways during WWII. I honestly believe more people should hear her story and recognize her incredible contributions to our nation. And I definitely recommend that you listen to this story as Nancy Peterson brings it vividly to life with her amazing narration. Certainly one of my top favorite books of 2024!! I received a copy of this story from the author via audiobooks.com. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
I’ve always had a fascination with WWII era history and love whenever I get to read and learn about something new during this time, especially about all the amazing people who overcame so much during such a dark time. Lady Flyer was one of those stories that will stay with me and I truly learned so much. I never knew about women pilots during this time frame and the desire so many had to help with the war efforts. I loved learning the story of Nancy Harkness Love who is a new hero for me. I was drawn in to this book and invested in knowing what happened. This story really touched my heart and I liked how the author captured the true events while also making these people real for me in such a vivid manner. It even had a bit of romance that was really cute to watch play out. Every woman deserves a supportive husband like Nancy had. I listened to the audiobook version. The narrator did a great job in my opinion and I really found it easy to follow along and listen to. I wanted to keep listening both because the narration was good and the story held me captive.
