Summary
Your perfect escape. Your worst nightmare.

DC Nicola McKenna promised her boyfriend Matt she would leave work behind for a romantic weekend in the Isle of Skye, but things get off to a bad start when a hotel mix-up leaves them stranded, just as a snowstorm is blowing in. Luckily, one last guest house on the island has room...

The couple is glad to reach the safety of The Loch House, especially with little George asleep in the back, but their relief is short-lived when they are given strange rules 'for their own good' and start to hear whispers of the house's dark past. Despite her scepticism, Nicola can't ignore the gnawing sense that there is something really wrong with this place. And when her son suddenly disappears, she starts to wonder if they will ever leave here alive...

As snow starts to fall, and night closes in, can Nicola solve the mystery of The Loch House before it claims another victim?

This book was pretty good. If you are looking for a book to listen to while doing chores or whatever it’s not super deep so you can tune in and out as needed and still know what’s happening. Decent

very disappointing. predictable plot, poor characterisation. waste of a credit.

Pretty decent thriller that kept me wanting to listen. Loved the addition of the true crime podcast snippets as well. I'd give the female narrator 4 stars but the male narrator's attempt at voices for the women was... not good. He was great when narrating Matt, but not any of the women. Overall, a decent listen.

2 different narrators using different voices for same characters was confusing. I found the male narrator’s female voices all sounded weak and scared.

The book was a nice whodunnit to listen while doing other things. Not very deep. The narrarion felt slightly funny. Specially the parts where the male character would quote the female character, it sounded so funny and dramatic.

Could barely understand it though the accent. I listened for 2 hours and couldn't go any farther. I had no idea what was going on and what I could understand I was at a total loss.

Similar to what another review said - this was an easy listen during chores. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns, but I wasn't on the edge of my seat. It did have me constantly turning the wheels of "whodunnit". I was a little put off by the podcasts intermixed as the narration got to be really cheesy, but I understood how it played into the story. Good, quick listen.
