Summary:

#1 bestselling author Nicholas Sparks's new novel is at once a compelling family drama and a heartrending tale of young love.

Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alientated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.

The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels -- first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts...and heal them.

This was an excellent book. The author has many lines of advise to help parents. I have used some with my adult children. You will laugh and you will cry and any book that can pull emotions from a reader is the best.

Another shallow and very one sided view by Nicholas Sparks.

This is a really good book. The relationship between the main character and her father is very interesting. It really gets intense when her father becomes sick. I was driving around crying my eyes out -- not just sniffing, but sobbing. Very, very effective. I didn't really expect to become so absorbed by this book. I am making up reasons to be in the car.... Highly recommend.

The story tended to slow down a lot at the end and get very philosophical.

I read the book first then saw the movie. The book was much better than the movie but the movie was good. The book was as expected, one of Sparks top honors. He is such a beautiful writer! Still amazes me how a man can write such beautiful love stories!!
