Unabridged Audiobook
DO NOT BUY!!!!!! This is absolutely the worst language-instruction audiobook I have ever used, and I have used many in many different languages. Supposedly, the narrator is a native French speaker, but that is extremely hard to believe, as his pronunciation is atrocious. He modulates his voice in such a way that a single syllable might have four or five different vowels in it; you could not possibly guess how to spell many of the words from the way he pronounced them. At first, I thought it was a joke or parody. Moreover, he tends to place equal emphasis on each syllable, rather than emphasizing the last syllable, which is more usual. As for the content itself, I would certainly quibble with the 2,000 words chosen for this audiobook, but that may be a matter of personal preference. What is less merely personal preference (I think) is the criticism that the book does not state the gender of nouns. It seems to me kind of silly not to teach the gender alongside the noun. Why would one think that should be a separate endeavor? In short, I got about 2/3 of the way through this audiobook and finally just gave up in disgust.
