The plot twists, character development maintained my interest. The plot twist keep one guessing about who actually is the culprit even while maintaining suspicion on one character. The characters are developed in accordance with upper society of the time. The stilted language and character behavior and manners are at first amusing, but become less noticeable as one becomes engrossed in the novel. A basically good read!

A clever, quaint murder mystery that entertains because of the strict etiquette restrictions placed on the participants that confound the investigation. A good period piece and the narrator did a fine job!

It was somewhat enjoyable but went on a good deal longer than was needed. I was curious about the “first American true crime novel”

Enjoyed to language, and the plot twists

Surprisingly kept my attention throughout the story. Unexpected plot twists and intrigue were nice additions for a story from a bygone day.

Excellent story,, lots of intrigue and red herrings. Happy ending, might listen again.
