Unabridged Audiobook
This book is engaging, interesting, and intense. I also enjoyed the format - more like an audioplay than an audiobook.
I first read this book when my son went away to college, 4 years prior to O's book club, it was heart wrenching then and just as poignant and significant in its' subject matter today. I enjoyed this book on audio so much the more, that i purchased it. The many lessons from this novel are still unfolding in life today...learn,glean and share it with others.
This is a old time radio verson. I liked it but wouldn't need to read again.
I'm not sure if this was a book that was performed out loud or if it was a stage production but it was not what I was expecting or am used to hearing. Very short, only 2 CD's long and there was really no character development and there was definately room for growth. The lesson of the book was clear but with such a short and to the piont story there was no impact left afterwards. In my opinion, dont waste your time.
This was perhaps the most boring book I had heard yet. Only 2 discs long it doesn't reach its potential in my opinion. It is read as a radio-play which makes it a little more enjoyable.
While the description in the catalog leads one to believe that the audiobook will be Earnest Gaines' novel, it is really a play BASED on the novel by a completely different author (Romulus Linney?!?). This is NOT Gaines' novel, and for some reason, SAB will not change the catalog listing to reflect that. All in all, a very disappointing experience.
