Summary
In the tradition of Go Ask Alice and Lucy in the Sky, a harrowing account of anorexia and addiction.

She was a good girl from a good family, with everything she could want or need. But below the surface, she felt like she could never be good enough. Like she could never live up to the expectations that surrounded her. Like she couldn't do anything to make a change.

But there was one thing she could control completely: how much she ate. The less she ate, the better—stronger—she felt.

But it's a dangerous game, and there is such a thing as going too far . . .

Her innermost thoughts and feelings are chronicled in the diary she left behind.

I remember reading this book back in high school 2013, and how much it impacted me. To reread it as an adult felt like it was healing my inner teenager. This book is heavy, but also so impactful. I will say it will trigger you if you have ever had an ED. From experience you never truly heal from it, you just learn better habits. So this might not be a good thing to read if you’re currently struggling. But it really speaks to how hard being a teenager is, how to navigate such intense feelings when you’re that young, and how easy it is find control in food, when everything else feels like it’s out of your control. It’s one of the most raw books about being young and EDs.
