Lie In The Tide, (liked the word play in the title), was a beach vacation for me. I am in Alaska and was listening on days that were right about 40-55 degrees. Hot summer days in books are definitely appreciated. The setting worked well for me.I enjoy this authors cozy mystery books and was intrigued when I learned she was changing lanes for this book. I'm a big thriller reader so I was excited but nervous to see how this would pan out. I am happy to say I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. There are four narrators (who all did an amazing job!) which helped with bringing the characters to life. I appreciated the emotion that came through at times. I felt like I was catching up with old classmates (some I liked and some..well..you know how some are). The story was fast paced with several twists (lies will do that). I am the type of reader who tends to think of characters as someone I meet who is telling me a story. I think this allows me to dislike characters, be frustrated by decisions they make, accept the way they speak, and stay interested in the story I'm being told. Some of the characters were flawed enough that I was happy they were book acquaintances. I did, however, enjoy the story they were telling me and trying to figure out who, if anyone, I could trust. I recommend this if you enjoy drama and suspense in a vacation setting.
