very interesting insight into medieval life in the city of York. I enjoyed listening to the narrator telling us about life there.Although, for me I would prefer a slightly steadier speed of story telling. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone interested in decovering more about medieval life

Excellent resource material which painted vivid mental images of past times and people. Narrator was spot on as well. Thanks for a job well done!

As other reviews have noted, the narration is a cure for insomnia, but the topic interests me, I learned much l, and have a much better understanding of life in and around York during medieval times which will lend insight in the future when I read, listen or watch other productions set in England in this time period.

'Short and gentle' ís how this work is described in the summary. I have listened to the reading of a shopping list with more emotion than that of this presentation. Facts are all well and good but need to be presented well to capture one's imagination. Alas not so here.

I felt like I was in an undergrad class in history. Fortunately I enjoy history but that’s not what I expected or wanted when I bought this book
