She is a guest at the luxurious hotel, he lives above a garage. So when Ned's cousin offers to cut him in on a rich deal he's been commissioned to execute, Ned can't turn him down. The plan is simple, just a fast break-and-enter. The risk is high, and the reward is even greater: $5 million. But on the night of the heist, something goes devastatingly wrong. Who will save the lifeguard?Ned walks away from his job, his town, and the woman he's fallen in love with. Runs away, actually, knowing that only velocity and secrecy can save his life. The best part of this rental is the narrator!! He made the book come alive for me. The book plays out like a Hollywood movie and has lots of twists and surprises throughout. I can’t wait to get to the end! Very exciting.

This was a good book but not a great one. I liked it but at the same time it did not grab me. Entertaining but not engrossing.

I felt like I was watching one of those movies you keep saying don't go in there, but they always do. The character kept doing stupid things and having the worse luck, but all ended in a fairy tale ending. It was a good book.

  • Doda

Kept my interest all the way through. One thing I've noticed is that Patterson kills a number of people in his books - never just 1. But a good read in any case.

This was my first experience with a James Patterson novel and I loved it! I'm now a fan serching for anything he has ever written.

The story has a very good plot. Patterson develops the characters well. But there's still something missing... almost like when you have deja vu. Something triggers a memory. You remember it was a really good dream but you just can't put all the pieces together to make it complete.

  • Angela Jones

Okay story kind of just dragged on. It was almost like the road runner that always gets away from the coyote

  • Cindy Doss

Enjoyed the book..lots of action. Unexpected outcome. Very clever. This book kept me interested.

  • Susan

I drove around and around the block. I just didn't want to stop listening. If you like thriller mysteries Patterson always delivers

  • Mary

Loved it! Made my days in the car fly right by. I've been enjoying all of James Patterson's books.
