Summary
The Lives of the Queens of England is a multi-volumed work attributed to Agnes Strickland, though it was mostly researched and written by her sister Elisabeth. These volumes give biographies of the queens of England from the Norman Conquest in 1066. Although by today's standards, it is not seen as a very scholarly work, the Stricklands used many sources that had not been used before.

Volume one includes the biographies of Matilda of Flanders, Matilda of Scotland, Adelicia of Louvaine, Matilda of Boulogne and Eleanora of Aquitaine.

The quality of the audiobook narration is horrendous. I couldn't listen to this audiobook her voice was so irritating and high pitched. Soeaks too fast as well!

It’s probably a really good book, but the narration is so terrible it’s too unpleasant to finish.

Absolutely terrible harsh American voice talking about the queens of England! Don’t you understand that English people cannot listen to this sort of reading? It’s like getting a proper English public school boy reading a story by Ernest Hemingway! I suggest you get your selection of readers in order in terms of which readers you allocate to which books, otherwise most of your stuff can be unable to listen to.

Listening to this was painful. Got to chapter 2. Could not listen anymore.

I was very excited when I saw this series of books! I'm a history buff and learning about the queens of England was a great find. They are very well written and interesting, however, the woman reading the book is awful. I can't even grace her with the title of Narrator. Her voice is nasal, her inflection is all wrong and her tone is like fingernails on a blackboard. I haven't given up listening to book 1 yet, but it is painful. The content is interesting and I hope it will be enough to help me persevere to the end of the series. If I just can't stand her anymore I will find the books in print and read them myself.
