Summary
All is not as it seems in Neverland.
As for Peter & Hook…
I know the secret most don't.

The real truth behind the myth.
The hidden wonder you've never known disguised as the notorious legend.

I know the nightmare that brings Hook to his knees.
The inescapable reality
Peter Pan one day couldn't fly away from.

All you've ever been told is a lie.
A hoax.
A pixie trick.

I know the truth because…
I'm their ruin.
I'm their demise.
I'm the end of what was &
the beginning of what's to come.

My name is Wendy Moira Angela Darling,
& I'm the reason for losing Neverland.

Praise for Losing Neverland:

Losing Neverland will keep you saying, 'just one more chapter,' until you finally finish!

This book is insane in the best way. It’s twisted and devastatingly beautiful. Passionate, obsessive, & emotional.
I'm a huge fan of retellings, a huge fan of dark romance, a huge fan of anti-heroes, & boy this one had all three!
I wish that I could reread this book for the first time, it was so good!

WOW! I could NOT put this book down! It was a rollercoaster ride. This book is dark, twisted, unique, and beautiful. It’s a dark romance, but it's also a beautiful second-chance romance. I ate this up so quickly I already miss it! What I would give to be able to read this for the first time again!

Losing Neverland gets all the stars!!! This is your sign to go by this book right now. Growing up, Peter Pan was always one of my favorite fairytales. Let me tell you, the story gets better with age and the adult version. I absolutely could not put this book down. Like I refused to cook dinner and made the kids order pizza couldn't put it down. Wendy and Peter are so amazing and the spice between these two, holy cow! This dual POV is dark, sexy, and it hits all the right spots.

I DO NOT even know where to begin with the absolute perfection Losing Neverland is! I never want to watch a single Peter Pan movie or the cartoon because I want this story to be Peter and Wendy's real story!!!

'Everything. That’s my favorite part.' Truer words were never spoken. I read this book three times. Three in a row. And each time I was just as sucked into the story as the first. More so actually as this is one of those books that the more times you read it, the more you find it blows your mind. The symbolism in this book is astounding. The twists are different in that they are revealed early. The love is a timeless, tragic, beautifully happy love story that will absolutely leave you coming back again… and again… and again.

Losing Neverland by Evelyn Montgomery is a dark fantasy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell. This is the first book in the Escapism series. This is the second book of Evelyn's that I have read and it won't be my last. All I can say is wow! I love this take on the relationship between Peter and Wendy. Their chemistry was off the charts. But their relationship was extremely messy that you couldn’t help but root for them. I loved getting Peter, Hook, Wendy, and Tinker Bell’s points of views throughout the book. I can't wait for the next book in the series Saving Tink to be released on October 15, 2024 Joe and Maxine did an amazing job on the narration. I don’t think you could find better narrators for this book. They brought the book to life. I can’t wait to listen to more of their work in the future. I would recommend this book if you're looking for a dark romance, fantasy romance, or a modern day retelling.

I have not read any retellings of Peter Pan before. Just seen the long ago cartoon movie. This was such a dark take on it! I absolutely loved the twist that Peter and Hook are one and the same. It gave the story such an interesting psychological edge, and I found myself completely invested in watching that transformation unfold. Peter’s descent into Hook was intriguing. As Peter began to grow up and experience deeper darker emotions - love, desire, obsession - that darkness inside him started to take over. Hook wasn’t just another person… he was the part of Peter that grew alongside those emotions. That insidious darkness that feeds obsession. Hook was inevitable. More than anything, though, this story made me sad. Sad for everything Peter and Wendy lost. Sad for Peter and Wendy’s past. Sad for the years stolen from them. Sad for what might have been. The ending definitely surprised me with a few twists. I do wish some of the reveals, particularly around Jake, had been explored a little more. I also really enjoyed seeing Tinkerbell and Tiger Lily take on larger antagonist roles. It was a fun departure from the traditional retelling. That said, I’m never a huge fan of “other woman” conflict, so some of those dynamics weren’t my favourite. Narration: Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell were next level! Maxine brought so much emotion and vulnerability to Wendy that I couldn’t help but feel everything right alongside her. Every heartbreaking moment landed exactly as it was meant to. And Joe… wow. His transition between Peter’s charm and Hook’s unhinged obsession was incredible. He somehow managed to make both sides of the character completely captivating!

17 years after she left Neverland, Peter comes back for Wendy, but he isn’t the boy she left behind, and everything about her life has changed. Now a mother of twin girls, she spent almost two decades sacrificing everything to keep them safe, but as she’s forced back into Peter’s world, it looks nothing like she remembers. I received a copy of this audiobook from @blush_audiobooks and the narrators sucked me in from the first moment. This is a much darker take on the beloved story, but what I loved most was how the author jumps back and forth between the past and current timelines, gradually feeding us the full story about what tore them apart in the first place, and what could bring them back together in the present. While Wendy has always imagined Peter as being unchanged, the reality is quite different, and she is shocked to find the hardened man he’s become. But she was always the only one he allowed to get close, and once more has a chance to tear down his walls to find the new version of the boy she’s loved for most of her life. As they tried to find a piece of what they’d lost, their enemies closing in threatened everything, and the ending left me reeling waiting to see what happens next.

Losing Neverland By@Evelyn Montgomery I have to say this Audiobook was 5 . The story and the Narration. I LOVED both FMC and MMC Narrators which hardly happens for me. It was one of the 1st Audiobooks I've listened to without following along with the book but still had me wrapped up in the story.

This story was such a twist from any I have heard before. I absolutely loved every second in it, whether I was swooning, or curled up terrified for the characters, every second was impeccable. I was so drawn in that I could barely stop the book when I needed to get some sleep, and my earbud was back in my ear before I even had my morning coffee in my hand. The audiobook was amazing. Joe Arden switching between the Peter persona and Hook was so deliciously and flawlessly done. Maxine Mitchell’s performance was amazing as well, between sweet Wendy, to vicious Tink, so great. Definitely recommending this one to everyone I know that likes things a little on the darker side in their books. Contains: Dark Peter Pan retelling Touch her and Peter Pan x Captain Hook twist Obsessive love Villain gets the girl

This is the Peter Pan and Wendy retelling that I did not know I needed. A masterfully crafted narrative. It is twisted, dark and obsessive. I loved every bit of this incredible story. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden nailed the characters perfectly. They absolutely brought the story to life. You could just feel all the tension in this. And not only that you could feel every bit of the emotion that the characters were feeling or even experiencing. It's a wild ride from beginning to end. I could not stop listening to it once I started it. I devoured this audio and I would definitely listen to this again. And that ending, loved it. It was a twist that I didn't see coming but I'm here for it. I cannot wait to find out what is coming next.

Audio Review: Duet Narration by Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden Tropes: Dark Peter Pan Retelling Enemies to Lovers Jealous/Possessive Second Chance Villain gets the Girl The story pulls you into a world where the classic fairy tale is a total lie—revealing the hidden nightmares of Hook and Peter, all tied to Wendy Moira Angela Darling, who is the catalyst for the end of Neverland. This was a really interesting take on the lore, and I truly enjoyed it. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden are an absolute dream team. Their chemistry is explosive, and they captured the dark, tense atmosphere perfectly, making the emotional stakes feel incredibly real. Huge thank you to Hello Blush PR and the author for this incredible ALC!

Losing Neverland by Evelyn Montgomery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you love dark Peter Pan retellings with secrets, heartbreak and morally grey characters. You need this audiobook in your life. This story completely fli ps everything you think you know about Neverland, following Wendy, Peter and Hook in a haunting, emotional romance. My king and queen of narration Maxine Mitchell & Joe Arden bring this story to life with such incredible emotion, passion and such distinct character voices I melted into the story ️ Main Characters: Wendy Darling, Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Tinker Bell all get fresh, complex twists that kept me hooked from beginning to end. If you enjoy dark romance, fantasy, emotional angst, and spicy retellings, add this one to TBR! Thankyou so much for this opportunity ️️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh. My. God. This one HURT. Peter Pan has held a soft spot in my heart since the 2004 film (Jeremy Sumpter fans unite!), and the "adultifying" of Peter Pan was something that my heart wasn't ready for, but I was absolutely here for it. Evelyn has gained a new faithful reader. The writing was so good, the nods to the source material was SO GOOD, and the Joe and Maxine narrating was the icing on the cake. I will be thinking about this story for a while now, thanks a lot! *Please keep in mind all posted trigger warnings. This baby is dark!

It has been two years since I reviewed this story. Let me tell you hearing it takes the story to an entirely new level. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden blew my mind with all of the characters. Neither one of them had just one character to portray but multiples. Maxine has young Wendy, present day Wendy, and Tinker Bell along with a handful of other female side characters and she has definite distinction between each character in her voice. Then there is Joe whose main roles are Peter and Hook. Peter has that young innocence sound to his voice (which rightfully so) and then Hook has an undertone of anger to his voice and is older sounding. Then there are all the numerous Lost Boys, John, and a handful of other male side characters. They way that both of these two could go from one character to the next without missing a beat was so impressive.
