The Hollisters have survived Delhi, but Tokyo is a whole new adventure—and Doug is determined to do things properly this time. He has laminated the maps, studied the instructions, and learned the most important Japanese sentence he can think of: “I am Doug.” Surely nothing can go wrong.

Then the family meets a toilet with a mind of its own, a rush-hour train packed tighter than anyone thought possible, and a station so enormous that even the signs seem to lead in circles. Grandma Bev is prepared for every emergency (with noodles, naturally), teenage Madison discovers that internet fame does not travel quite as far as she imagined, and nine-year-old Max keeps finding ways to surprise everyone.

At the Sato Inn, Doug becomes fascinated by Mr. Sato, a strict, punctual former bullet-train driver. Determined to find the perfect present for him, Doug sets off alone into Tokyo with a model train in mind—and a laminated card that may or may not be useful. Soon he is lost in the tunnels and corridors of one of the world’s busiest stations, and Jen is left wondering whether her husband will ever make it home.

Can Doug do the one thing he has always found hardest: stop, admit he is lost, and ask for help? With comic travel disasters, unforgettable Tokyo moments, kind strangers, and a warm story about family and learning to change, Lost in Tokyo is a feel-good adventure for readers who love humorous family fiction and travel mishaps. Join the Hollisters for the second stop on their world tour.
