Loved this book. The way the author had described the lad scape made you think you were right there. The storm scene felt like it was happening in real life. Can’t wait to read the other books in this series.

Beautifully written

I'm glad many enjoyed this book, but for me, it was predictable and disappointing. It simply followed every trite storyline you can find in Hallmark movies. Every time I thought there'd be a twist or something interesting, there wasn't. If you don't like Hallmark movies, I'd avoid this book. If you do like Hallmark movies, this is the book for you.

Lovely story with an interesting little mystery underlying it. I don't normally read books like this, but this was definitely worth my time.

What a wonderful break from overly sexualized and violent stories - a wonderful cast of characters the descriptions of the village and the dialogue- just a wonderful romp!

a really sweet story..loved it!!

A romance. Not a gripping story and totally predictable. Easy and smooth. Won't put you to sleep but won't grab your attention either. Everybody is so good and behaves well. All ends tied up in a bow.

Fine writing although minimal conflict and the mystery tasked of the main character left me wanting. The mystery of the painting started as her inquiry, but other than finding out the subject’s name and teaching status, everything else was sorted by her niece, conveniently so. And even the letter to Michael that saved the inheritance was only because the niece forced the MC to consider Michael’s perspective. The MC had no real agency and minimal growth. Makes me want to read a story about the niece instead.

I loved this book with its vivid descriptions of the seaside cottage and the little village. I felt like I was there myself, getting to know the residents with their quirks and small town hospitality and familiarity. The story had a Maeve Binchy or Rosamunde Pilcher feel to it. The narrator was the perfect voice to read the story-inflection, pace, and expression suited the story and the characters to a tee.
