'Lot No. 249' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a seminal work of Gothic horror and the grandfather of modern mummy fiction. Set within the historic, shadowed cloisters of Oxford University, the story follows a sensible medical student named Abercrombie Smith. Smith becomes increasingly alarmed by the bizarre behavior of his neighbor, Edward Bellingham—a brilliant but malice-filled Egyptology student. When Bellingham's academic rivals are brutally attacked by a silent, inhumanly strong creature, Smith uncovers a terrifying truth: Bellingham has used forbidden, ancient Egyptian magic to reanimate a long-dead mummy. What follows is a suspenseful game of cat and mouse as dark sorcery invades the modern world.
Narrated by horror author Jonathan Dunne.
