Unabridged Audiobook
This was a very good book, interesting and l didn't want to stop listening
Wonderful book
Excellent narration of two unfortunate lovers. It gave me more appreciation of the issues faced by people like Pearl.
The narrator was absolutely magnificent!!! He spoke well, used several character voices, and annunciated well. The story flowed well, and I didn't want to stop listening. I only picked the book on a whim, but it was interesting. I kept anticipating and kept anticipating the BAD things to happen. The parts I disliked the most: there is mention of animal cruelty, detailed descriptions of several pig slaughters, and killing animals.
This was so realistic and heartbreaking (of course it is based on a true story). Narration was excellent. Having encountered mental illness with in my family, I was especially moved by the story. Recommended.
Wonderful
This was painful. I was curious enough to keep going but it hurt. The changes brought on by Pearl's schizophrenia simply became too much to bear.
Clearly autobiographical. Makes clear the stress of the situation and emotinal fall out.
Interesting
This book is really informative not only about schizophrenia but deafness and hobby farming and house renovation on an island. It’s not the best written but so interesting and accurate (I’ve experienced everything but schizophrenia and live on an island on the west coast).
