The Luck Dragon looks at modern day beliefs and behaviours regarding good luck and warding away bad luck and their connection to the past - be it ancient Rome, ancient Egypt, the Celts, ancient Greece, the time of William Shakespeare and numerous others, including more recent historical influences. Who would have thought that the ancient Egyptians stroked the dried wishbone of dead birds in the hope that this would bring them luck or that in procuring a lucky rabbit's foot it was considered best done in a graveyard or by a cross-eyed person. And that more men were accused of witchcraft in Iceland during witch hunt periods than women. The Luck Dragon also dips into ancient Eastern mythology including the significance of the highly important and powerful dragon, particularly in Chinese culture.
