Unabridged Audiobook
Unsettling coming of age story highlighting not only the unpredictability of puberty but also the faithlessness of adults. I really didn’t like any of the characters, but especially the pompous parents who are wrapped up in their own egos. I knew nothing of the culture of this locality so at least I learned something!
I have mixed feelings about this book. I think the author gets inside of the head of a conflicted teenage girl very well & Marisa Tomei narrates indicating a girl with difficulty in heart & in mind. That said, the narration feels a little too continuously annoyed & rough to me.
I’m really having trouble getting through this book. I keep listening to a different book and then coming back to try again, and just can’t finish it. I’ve heard everyone loves it etc but I don’t. The narration was ok at first and did improve as the story went on but the story just keeps dragging on and on and I’m going to stop listening.
marisa tomei is amazing. I loved the narration of this great book
Fascinating observation for human emotions and sensibility, the nerative is simple but still deep in understanding the human soul . Pure joy , hard to leave , great pleasure .
I love Elena Ferrente and have read many of her works. Marisa Tomei did a wonderful job with the reading. The book was great and being Italian from that area of Italy I totally understand the culture. I however was not completely thrilled with the ending.
