Unabridged Audiobook
Flo Baer is a tough Reed for 21st century readers. There is no economy of writing and no detail so small that it can be overlooked. However, the characters and their motivations seem plausible even by today’s standards.
Kate Reading brings so much life to this fantastic translation (Lydia Davis'). Her narration is lovely and each character is distinct - most of them would be identifiable without the name attached. Clear elocution, excellent pronunciation of French names and words. And, of course, Madame Bovary is called a masterpiece for a reason. 10/10 all around.
No matter how good the story if the Narrator is not good I cannot concentrate...might as well read the book.
