Summary
Published in book form in April 1857, the novel focuses on a doctor's wife, Emma Bovary, who has adulterous affairs and lives beyond her means in order to escape the banalities and emptiness of provincial life. Though the basic plot is rather simple, even archetypal, the novel's true art lies in its details and hidden patterns. Flaubert was notoriously perfectionist about his writing and claimed to always be searching for le mot juste (the right word)". (Summary from Wikipedia).

I hated the fact the narrators kept changing. had I known that wadgoing to happen I would have passed on the selection. I was only mildly intersted in the story. due to narration

She was bored and became a slut. End of story.

Too many poor quality narrators. Narrators should just read the book as it is written without putting in their own interpretation of the various characters voices an method of speaking which will almost certainly be different to the next narrator.

A great classic

This is not just a story, but a very important classic novel. I think the only distraction by changing narrators in this reading was the variations in pronunciation of French names. It was very hard to tell who they were talking about until maybe halfway thru the book, and that was after I looked up the characters on Wikipedia. On the whole, the narrators did a very good job. Remember, they are volunteers. I have listened to a great many Librivox audiobooks, and some of the narrators are very difficult to understand. When they change, it's a relief.

At one point, during the chapters read by Bob Sage, the narration is accompanied by extremely annoying and unwelcome background noise that is incredibly distracting and unpleasant to the ears.

It’s a free book so it’s hard to be critical but some of the narration was very distracting
