Unabridged Audiobook
I love Maisie! She became real through the author's masterful story telling. The timeline skips around which created anticipation and interest. This novel reads more as historical fiction than a mystery. There is mystery in this novel but it is definitely a secondary plot. it is very clean which I appreciate. There is no sex, swearing, or gory details. I highly recommend this book. I am a high school English teacher and I love discovering charming historical fiction like this! I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Ut was a pleasant listen but it did not grip me. The sing song cadence of the narrator made it a bit difficult to concentrate for me, at times.I do wonder if broccoli was already a common vegetable in the UK at that time. It only became a staple after WOII over here.Same with the PACE warning.
Cute story.
This book was slow moving for me though it’s generally right up my alley. Overall, it was well written
