Unabridged Audiobook
Beautifully observed and written. I generally like anything Lisa Jewell writes. It’s quality writing. However, for all of that, I didn’t feel engaged with any of the characters, except for one and that one disappeared from the story early on. Narration was average, but okay, though the accents kept slipping, which was an irritation.
This book started off VERY slow. I found I had to keep rewinding as the change in characters stories was hard to follow. The accents at the beginning of the book were awful to listen to. But as the book progressed the story really came together - but not until the last 2 hours of a 10 hour book. I did love how it came together at the end, but I came close to not finish it after 2-3 hours in.
This book was surprisingly better than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. The narrator was great too!
I enjoyed listening to this book
Very slow, and long. Not like her newer stuff. Not bad, but not great.
Really liked the idea of finding people and how you meet people that become a part of your life.
Long slog. Tried to quit several times. The narrator may have saved me from a DNF.
Well written on a subject often forgotten. Enjoyed reading
Nice story. Would have liked a little more at the end.
I liked it, did have a hard time in the beginning figuring out who everyone was but a couple chapters in I got it all straight
This was a free selection from the VIP rewards list so my expectations were low, but it really enjoyed it. Clever writing, not totally predictable and the narrator was excellent!
Loved this. This is not a Lisa Jewel mystery/crime/thriller. But it’s a great fiction story. Jewel’s greatest talents are character development, great story development with twists, and efficient but detailed writing, all of which you’ll get with this read. Just no crime mystery here.
Well written, thought provoking and good execution.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the idea of it and the narrator was also very good.
AWESOME BOOK!!!! Captivating story and narration.
I enjoyed this book especially the ending.
Very good, story. Kept my interest.
I enjoyed the book and the narration.
Loved it!
Intriguing book with a good storyline and an ending that fit. Narrator was also good. I enjoyed this book!
Narrators brought this to life. Lisa Jewell is a superb story teller!! I have read or listened to all of her novels. This is one of the best. Deeply emotional story of children who didnt know each other till grown. I loved it!
Amazing story. I think my favorite of Lisa Jewels. The narrator was the best. She had so many characters to portray and I never got them mixed up. Her range of accents and male/female voices is excellent.
When I first started this book, I did not think I would like it. It was an unusual storyline, and I loved the characters in it.
This book was not as good as others by the same author.
I loved this book…talk about delving into the nurture/nature aspects of life. We get a full spectrum of emotions and perspectives through Lisa’s writings in thus great novel. Read it, it will make you think and you will be better for its impact on your views. The world of doner and its impact is coming full circle as these diner children are coming of age, coupling and having children of their own. The perspectives shared here are heartwarming and insightful.
I loved it! I have recently become one of this authors biggest fans. This story was well written, characters are lovable, interesting from beginning until the end and once it ended I wanted more. I found some parts really pulling at my heart strings. Cannot forget the narrator, she did a really great job portraying each of the characters, it was like watching a movie with my minds eye. Now off to the next Lisa Jewell novel :)
A nice story, easy to listen to.
DNF. Too slow
Great job of weaving seemingly unrelated lives together.
I like the plot, but don't understand the authors need to overuse expletives.
