A Matter Over Mind

Dr. Henry Ion Fischer is no ordinary chemist. Gifted with atomic telekinesis and once a member of the secretive Society of Concerned Scientists, Henry saw his brilliant career destroyed by the Boston Chinatown Massacre, a tragedy for which he blames himself. Exiled from the scientific community, he now runs The Modern Apothecary, a quirky Boston shop filled with strange potions and experimental medicines.

Haunted by his past, Henry lives in isolation with only Brain, a sarcastic, shape-shifting corgi, for company. Together, they maintain a fragile normalcy among the shop’s tinctures and elixirs until their routine is shattered by a brutal series of murders targeting couples. Henry’s instincts tell him that something darker is at work. As the clues point toward a sinister psychologist who twists minds and turns love into a weapon, Henry’s guilt and desire for redemption drive him back into the shadowy world he abandoned.

Joining him is Melody, a sharp and determined private investigator. Though initially at odds, they forge an uneasy alliance, driven by a shared history and a mutual quest for the truth. Their investigation takes them into Boston’s scientific underbelly, where they encounter Alexander, an eccentric physicist with ties to the Society and disturbing insights into the murders.

Blending science with urban fantasy, A Matter Over Mind explores guilt, redemption, and the human need for connection. The novel blurs the line between science and magic, with battles fought in laboratories, dark alleys, and the human mind. Perfect for fans of The Dresden Files and the Foundation series, it delivers unexpected twists and high-stakes intrigue while challenging readers to reconsider morality and the fragility of the human psyche.
