Summary
In her warm and witty debut about living with intrusive thoughts and anxiety, bestselling author Hayley Morris shows—with her signature sparkling humor and unflinching honesty—that being an overthinker is both a blessing and a curse. She confronts the funny (if painful) moments that arise when your brain and body refuse to cooperate and your inner voice won’t shut up. No subject is too taboo for Hayley, whether that’s forgetting how to walk when people are watching or the frustrations of dating.

Me vs. Brain is for any listener hoping to befriend their brain, even when it’s “scatty, annoying, and wrong about basically everything.”

This book truly resonates with me, I don’t feel alone. Do I still feel absolutely ridiculous and weird? Yes but so is Hayley. I just loved the story and how funny she was, it’s important to bring humor to our difficulties and she is a comedian for sure. Wish it was longer.

This book is well written and performed beautifully. I enjoyed the truth of life done in a way that I could both relate and laugh. Thank you Hayley for your charm and wit. I enjoyed this very much.

I enjoy Hayley's short videos, which feature different parts of her mind/body talking to each other. This book follows the same pattern, with her and her brain narrating most of the book together. Well, Hayley did most of the narration, with Brain interjecting frequently. The book features very short chapters. I enjoyed the memoir feel of most of the book. It was nice to go along for the ride as Hayley learned about intrusive thoughts, anxiety, and other topics. I skipped some chapters — for example, I really don't care about what's going through someone's head during sex.

It was a fun book. Some parts dragged on a bit, but overall it was a good read.
