Unabridged Audiobook
This was an outstanding book, clear and actually positive in the end. The myth of our meritocracy is deep and abiding and it becomes clear when examining the history that these myths that support white male dominance do neither white males or the rest of us any good. It becomes clear when going through the history that we in the US have been going through a series of backlashes against people of color and women for as long (and longer) than 'home of the free and the brave'. It is past time that we roll up our sleeves and give up our myths in order to embrace what is possible .. Ijeoma Oluo's book is a good beginning on the journey. Our emotional attachment to our myths is shooting us in the foot over and over again. We have come to the time that our unwillingness to examine that we have had 'affirmative action' for white men for our entire history. The ramifications of this become clear in this book. While not easy to process the information it is presented clearly and without holding back .. we desperately need this kind of honesty and I appreciate Ijeoma Oluo's willingness to take on the task. I will be buying the book in print.
Overall this is a well written and recorded book.
