Summary
New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult has an incredible talent for taking hot-button social issues and weaving them into compelling page-turners. In Mercy, she explores the depths of love in its many forms. Police chief Cameron McDonald has lived in idyllic Wheelock, Massachusetts for most of his life, as has his beloved wife Allie. Their comfortable lives are thrown into tumult, however, when Cam's distant cousin Jamie arrives in town along with his wife's dead body. Jamie admits to the murder-a mercy killing to end the pain caused by a ravaging cancer. And now Cam is torn by his oath to uphold justice and his family obligations as chief of the Scottish McDonald clan. Meanwhile, another new arrival in town, Mia Townsend, threatens to unwittingly drive a dagger through Cam's marriage. Deftly portraying the complexities of love and passion, Picoult delivers another literary triumph with Mercy. 'What could have been a competent, topical novel about a mercy killing becomes, in Picoult's hands, an inspired meditation on love.'-Publishers Weekly

I enjoyed the book and the narrator. A difficult subject

I usually love Jodi Picoult’s books, but this one just didn’t keep my interest. The characters were not likable or well-developed. The narrator sounded like she had a cold — very nasal — but she did a pretty good job of distinguishing between the characters.

Not my favorite book by Jodi Picoult but she presented an interesting dilema and as always, she gave us different views and perspectives to be considered. I liked this book.

I’ve always loved this author for her thought provoking topics and always surprises up her sleeve. This one was just a bit too melodramatic for me. The characters seemed unrealistic. The narrator didn’t help matters. It really bothered me that she sounded like a bad 1940’s movie. Overacting. It was distracting and it was tough to finish.

difficult book to follow along with in the beginning. not the best romance. I couldnt relate with chief & found that even at the end of book I hated him. I'm sure this is a semi factual look of unfaithfulness but I dont agreed with it.

I am a huge Picoult fan. However, this book didn’t do it for me. The ending was too open and the usual suspense was lacking. I wished there less open ended questions left.
