Unabridged Audiobook
Awful narrator. Awful plot. Not surprised- I’ve tried various McDermids - this is plodding with wooden characters and one of the most boring books I’ve ever read. I gave up 1/2 way. Dear God. Hugely overrated.
Hard to stomach. It portrays such depravity I wasn't sure I could stick with it but I did in the hope that 'closure' would stop it haunting me! Not sure it was worth it. And should come with a trigger warning for trans listeners, especially in the current climate.
Val mcDermid is a great writer and keeps you enthralled to the very end.
I tried so many times to listen to this but the readers voice really annoyed me I couldn't listen.
Great read, kept interest right up until the final cliffhanging chapter. Excellent vocal variety in the narration, how does he remember all the voices?

Start to finish was a great read, twists all the way through and the ending i did not see comming .
