Unabridged Audiobook
The content was unnecessarily explicit.and the narrator was terrible. Constant overdramatic tone of voice. The whole story was too long and repetitive. I did not enjoy it at all. As I always finish books I begin I just couldn’t wait for this one to finish
I loved the books in this series. This one was interesting and a whole new twist. Loved the story. The way the author unfolds their history, how they became the way they are and the relationships that bring them undone. Few parts dragged out but I would still read/listen to this one again.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book or not. It was o e if my VIP selections, so I figured I'd give it a try. I am so glad that I did! I was pleasantly surprised. The characters in this book had a lot of depth to them and appeared to be very real and relatable. There was a lot of repetition in the book and I'm not sure if it was intentional to remind us of what is going on in her head, or accidental by just being wordy or not realizing how often the same information is presented. There were a couple of errors in the book about a character (the therapist was referred to as being both a woman and a man) and a slight timeline issue where the same people who were in the same year as her before the "incident" are still in the same year as her now, even though she was "away" from school for 2 years. There are a few spots where the author just seems to throw in some irrelevant plots in the book for no reason and nothing comes back to that or doesn't add to the story on any meaningful way. Overall there was about 1-2 hours that could probably be cut from the book without interfering with the story. All that being said, I love how two people who were both damaged equally but in two very different ways, come together and find a way to dig deep down into their own souls and find a way to fix each other, even though they weren't really broken at all. This book really hit home to me as our family had my mentally ill mother-in-law live with us for just over 10 years. She was a delusional schizophrenic, manic depression and OCD. A lot of the things Lee and in particular Salem did and went through is very real. It takes a very patient and compassionate person to live with a person with these issues. Even though these characters have a HEA, I'm glad the author took the time to show that the issues the two main characters have are something they will always have. They are not "cuted", but they have found ways to navigate their lives, are not afraid to ask for help, are self-aware, can advocate for themselves, know their triggers and how to either avoid or manage them in a reasonable and constructive way.The storyline for this book is excellent. While some things were predictable and typical of a HEA book, there was a nice balance of opposites attract, love at first sight, and finally, are we really all that different after all? This is the first book I have read from this author. I will definitely look for other things written by the same author. Even though I have finished this book, I will go back onto my list as one of those books I will like to listen to again. Highly recommend!
Story was very interesting and I enjoyed it. I liked the female narrator but the male narrator needed to distinguish between when his voice needs to be dramatic and when it doesn’t. He narrated the entire book very breathy and dramatic which I think took away from the story.
Good book
